4th & 5th November saw the family visiting the Organic Food Festival in Glasgow, organised by the Soil Association.
A great time was had by all, and more information will be contained in later articles.
Top of the event was most definitely a puppet show by the Puppet State Theatre Company called The Man Who Planted Trees - based on Jean Giono's story originally published in Vogue in the 50's.
A wonderfully evocative, moving and entertaining show - this performance was much more than we ever expected from a "puppet show".
An exquisite delivery by performers Richard Medrington and Rick Conte ensured the rapt attention of the kids and adults. We were somehow cocooned and cosseted and moved and entertained all in one.
The performance received rave reviews at the Edinburgh Festival, and that praise was certainly well deserved. Great news is that for anyone in Edinburgh over the festive period, the show will be aired at the Theatre Workshop from 22nd - 30th December. It really is a must for everyone - kids or not, and is especially recommended for kids from 7yrs upwards - the younger ones will also enjoy the characters and the set and the interaction with the performers. As an adult you won't fail to be moved by the story.
If you run a group of any kind and are looking for some entertainment, then I recommend getting these guys along. It is, of course particularly appropriate for anyone who is looking at tree planting - either ceremonially, or indeed for environmental reasons.
We'll definitely be back. 5 stars!!!
